Foreign Minister Stubb to attend the Informal Meeting of Foreign Affairs Ministers

Foreign Minister Alexander Stubb will attend the Informal Meeting of EU Foreign Ministers, the so-called Gymnich meeting, to be held in Avignon, France on 5–6 September.
On the first day transatlantic relations will be discussed, followed by presentation of the work to reform the EU’s security strategy by Javier Solana, High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy.
The working session on the morning of the second meeting day will focus on the situation in Georgia and relations between the EU and Russia. At the working lunch that ends the meeting, the situation in the Middle East will be discussed, in the presence of representatives of the EU Candidate countries.
Informal meetings of EU foreign affairs ministers have been held regularly at six-month intervals since 1974.
