Foreign Minister Stubb to go to the Informal Meeting of EU Foreign Ministers and Costa del Sol

Foreign Minister Alexander Stubb will attend the Informal Meeting of EU Foreign Ministers, the so-called Gymnich meeting, to be held in Cordoba, Spain on 5–6 March. The ministers will discuss the current situation regarding the Middle East peace process. Also on the ministers’ agenda are EU relations with emerging economies such as China, India and Brazil now that the Lisbon Treaty has entered into force. On the second meeting day, the ministers will discuss the situation in the Western Balkans. The foreign ministers of EU candidate countries Croatia, Turkey and the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia will also take part then.
Informal meetings of the EU foreign ministers have been held regularly at six-month intervals since 1974.
Following the meeting, Foreign Minister Stubb will pay a visit to Finns in the Costa del Sol region of Spain. He will visit the local Finnish community, attend a veterans’ event and visit the Finnish school, and he will open the Centro Finlandia shopping centre.
