Foreign Minister Stubb to represent the EU at the Northern Dimension Ministerial Meeting

Foreign Minister Alexander Stubb will attend the Northern Dimension Ministerial Meeting being held in Oslo on 2 November. Minister Stubb will represent the European Union, at the request of High Representative Catherine Ashton. In addition to the European Union, Russia, Iceland and Norway will also be represented at the meeting.
Northern Dimension cooperation has gained much strength in the last few years. Of the new cooperation forms, transport and logistics partnership in particular is expected to take a prominent position. The number of actors, too, has increased. The role of international financing institutes has become emphasized. Representatives of business and the university world also take part in the cooperation now. The European Commission has taken a decision on financing Northern Dimension cooperation more broadly, which also brings stability to activities.
