Minister Väyrynen to attend the Informal Meeting of EU Trade Ministers in Brussels

Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Paavo Väyrynen will attend the Informal Meeting of EU Trade Ministers in Brussels on Sunday, 25 January. An informal meeting of trade ministers is held once during each EU Presidency term.

Trade policy measures for spurring the world economy and ways of promoting progress in the WTO free trade negotiations will be discussed at the meeting. In the current slump, Finland has emphasised the positive effect that conclusion of the WTO negotiations could have on the world economy and the importance of refraining from protectist measures.
